1️⃣ Summary

Jack and Annie looked up at the tree house. Annie climbed up the rope ladder while Jack stood at the base of the tree. Jack heard something move in the bushes and went over to check, but no one was there. Annie called to him, and Jack climbed up through the hole in the floor of the tree house. The castle book, which had taken them to the time of knights, was already dry. Annie pulled out a book about ancient Egypt, and Jack made a wish. The book took them to ancient Egypt.

It was almost time for lunch.

→ Which subject is he going to study today?
The castle book had taken Jack and Annie back to the time of knights.
→ In Harry Potter, the Knight Bus took Harry to Diagon Alley.
→ A book took me to the time of kings.
She waved a dinosaur book in Jack’s face.
→ She showed him a book in his face.
→ She pointed at him right in his face.
Put that away.
= Store it.
= Tidy it up.
= Put it out of sight.
At the end of the parade was a sleek black cat.
→ She has a sleek body.
→ The spaceship had a sleek body.
→ The dolphin had a sleek body.
→ That sleek car seems very expensive.
Pyramids were high on his list of favorite things. Way before dinosaurs.
→ Traveling around the world was high on my list of favorite things.

Annie found the book with the picture of their hometown in it.
→ I turned the pages with the picture of Seoul in it.
→ I picked up the luggage with the cat in it.
Jack turned the pages of the book with the picture of Egypt in it.
→ I turned the pages of a book about Seoul.
→ I picked up the book with the cat in it.
A black cat was perched on a branch.
→ The tree house was perched high on a palm tree.
→ A raven perched on a branch.

"perched" 표현은 주로 새나 작은 동물이 높은 곳에 앉아있는 모습입니다.
Hot bright light nearly blinded them.
→ The love made him nearly blind.
→  She was blinded by rage

3️⃣ Short Story

It was almost time to go to bed.
“What did the Red-Headed League stand for?”
Dr. Watson pushed aside the newspaper he was reading.
Sherlock looked the same as he always did.
At that moment, the doorbell rang, and the door rattled.
Two guys took them to the bank behind the pawn shop.
“What adventure is it going to be today?” Watson was excited.
Adventure was always high on his list of favorite things.
The two guys led them to a room with a thick door that had an enormous lock on it.
Sherlock waved keys in Watson’s face.
The room was so dark that when one of the guys lit it with a flashlight, the bright light nearly blinded them.
It was the bank vault.


✏️ Today's Reflection
I've started a new book. But just like the previous ones, the language isn’t too difficult. In Book 3, I plan to review expressions from Books 1 and 2. Once all these expressions settle into my memory, I’ll definitely feel more confident and natural when using English!
